David Bettencourt for District Six School Board
About David
David is a longtime resident of the District Six and Spartanburg communities.  His family moved to Spartanburg when he was in Kindergarten and to Walnut Grove when he was in the 7th grade, allowing him to attend Gable Middle School and to graduate from Dorman High School.  After obtaining his Accounting Degree from the University of Southern California, he moved back home to Spartanburg to work in a local accounting firm while he obtained his CPA license.

David married Jennifer Davis in 1999 and they have two sons, Daniel and Carson.  David is a past School Improvement Council Chairman and the current PTO treasurer for Roebuck Elementary School.  He has also been a little league baseball coach for South Spartanburg since 2005.

From 2001 through 2006, David was employed as the Director of Business Services for Spartanburg School District Six.  While there he managed the purchasing, food service and special revenue accounting in addition to being heavily involved in the long term planning for buildings and grounds and overall finances of the district.  Having two young sons, he also took the time to learn about the instructional programs that District Six utilized.  David wanted to understand what the most effective methods and programs were, so he could be an informed father as he and his wife Jennifer prepared their boys for school.

David is currently the controller for 3G Mermet, a manufacturing company in Cowpens.  This role allows him to understand the impact that the property taxes set by a school board have on businesses.
